WHAT OXIKAN IS

Food can now live longer, naturally

OxiKan, a range of natural antioxidants extracted from the finest rosemary, offers a way to extend shelf life the natural way, without resorting to artificial or chemical means.

 

Anti-oxidants are substances that prolong the shelf life of food by delaying the oxidation process. Synthetic antioxidants were widely used to arrest undesirable deterioration of food products, but recent research studies indicate that these cause detrimental effects and are viewed as a threat to human health.

 

Mane Kancor has identified ways to tackle this oxidation in food by providing natural solutions. It all started with the enquiry for a shelf life enhancement solution in a meat product. Mane Kancor’s R&D team tried to understand the customer's requirements and performed application studies to test the solutions for their oxidation management problems. Thus, OxiKan was born, a range of natural antioxidants extracted from the finest rosemary.

OxiKan offers a way to extend shelf life the natural way, without resorting to artificial or chemical means. The main active components in Rosemary are carnosic acid, carnosol and rosmarinic acid that inhibit the oxidation of other molecules by being oxidised themselves. This helps in extending the shelf life of the product by fighting rancidity in oils and fats, and stabilising natural colours.

OxiKan CL from Mane Kancor is the last word in extending the shelf life of perishable products. Our secret ingredient is a more refined extract of rosemary. This decolourised rosemary extract has been found to extend shelf life successfully, without any of the decipherable or tell-tale signs of deterioration in the freshness of the product. Essentially, it is a flavourless and colourless antioxidant that can be applied to sensitive applications like mayonnaise, fish oils, specialty fats, flavouring ingredients, cosmetic and personal care ingredients and essential oils.

The absence of unwanted molecules such as colour, odour and non-antioxidant molecules helps to create a fully flavourless decolourised rosemary extract - an industry first!
